Beate Rau has specialized in surgical oncology, especially in upper and lower GI-tract- and thoracic-cancer-surgery. Her main interest is surgical oncology, what she mostly did the last 35 years. She is very much involved in education of the students and young trainees. She innovated and organiozed
She was board member of the educational training committee (ETC) of ESSO and developed a training program in cancer surgery. She was elected as a board member 2018 where she shared responsibility for funding belongings and got a member of the funding committee of ESSO. Since January of 2022 she was elected as a member of the board of directors of European Cancer Organisation (E.C.O.). Additionally, she is member of several societies. She got the ESSO Medal for her engagement in Peritoneal Surface Malignancy (PSM) treatment just recently October 2025.
Since 2015 she is the head of the Section Special Surgical Oncology at the Charité. Her major interest is hyperthermia which has been central to her surgical and translational research. Convinced by hyperthermia she achieved experience in cytoreductive surgery (CRS) for peritoneal surface malignancies (PSM) and HIPEC over the last 30 years. With her effort, she build up a centre of reference for surgical treatment of PSM in Germany at two universities Charité Universitaetsmedizin Berlin and Medizinische Hochschule (MHH) in Hanover and is therefore responsible for two centres in Germany. Prof. Rau has advanced the field through her work on Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) and HIPEC, clinical trials like GASTRIPEC, and tireless mentorship.
She is committed to the German Surgical Society of Oncology (ACO) and was called to be a member of the Peritoneal Surface Malignancy (PSM) Group, which is called the Peritoneal Surface Oncology Group International (PSOGI). For the topic, she organises annually repeating international and multidisciplinary courses to educate skills and knowledge to participants in the field of PSM. Dr. Asmis is a Medical Oncologist at The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre as well as an Associate Professor and Director of the Medical Oncology Fellowship Program in the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He obtained his MD at the University of Ottawa and completed his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the University of Ottawa. Following his postgraduate training, he pursued a fellowship in Gastrointestinal Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. As the lead of the Ottawa GI Disease Site Group, he oversees care provided to patients with gastrointestinal cancers at the Ottawa Hospital. He has also led the development of clinical guidelines for patient care with Cancer Care Ontario. In addition, Dr. Asmis is currently the Vice-President of the Ottawa Hospital Medical Staff Association and a Board Member of the Ottawa Hospital. He is an active member of CCTG, CAMO, ASCO and ESMO.

Dr. Kyle Fortinsky, MD, MBA, FRCPC is a gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist at Royal Victoria Hospital. He completed Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training at the University of Toronto, and pursued a therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, ERCP, enteral stenting, and complex polypectomy, and serves as Regional Colorectal Screening/GI Endoscopy Lead for the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program. Dr. Fortinsky also holds an MBA from UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business and is the co-founder of CleverConsult, a Canadian AI platform built for specialists.

Dr. Trevor Hamilton is a Surgical Oncologist and Clinical Associate Professor at Vancouver General Hospital and BC Cancer. He completed his medical school at Dalhousie University and General Surgery training at the University of Calgary. He completed a fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto and an international fellowship at Severance Hospital/Yonsei Cancer Center in Seoul, Korea. He has a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health.
He is the chair of the BC Cancer Gastric Cancer Surgical Tumor Group, member of the BC Cancer Sarcoma Tumor Group and the co-chair of the BC Peritoneal Malignancy Program. He is the Co-Program Director for the UBC General Surgery Residency Program.

Mojola Omole MD, FRCSC

Dr. Mojola Omole is a breast surgical oncologist and general surgeon at Scarborough Health Network in Toronto, and a leading voice for equity in healthcare. As President of the Black Physicians of Ontario, she champions systemic change and advances initiatives that confront anti-Black racism and oppression in medicine and beyond.
In addition to her clinical and advocacy work, Dr. Omole is a faculty facilitator at Unity Health Toronto/Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s Centre for Faculty Development, where she helps shape the next generation of academic leaders. She also serves as Chief Medical Officer and device consultant for the Stage Zero Collection—the first educational bra garment designed to teach people how to recognize breast cancer symptoms on darker skin tones.
Dr. Omole extends her expertise to public discourse as a freelance journalist and co-host of the CMAJ podcast, where she brings critical conversations about health, equity, and society to broader audiences.

She is a certified mindfulness and meditation teacher focused on integrating practical, evidence-based mindfulness tools into oncology practice.

Dr Jamie Saperia is a gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist at North York General Hospital. After completing medical school at the University of Toronto, he completed internal medicine training at Queen’s University and his general gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Toronto. He went on to complete a fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. His clinical interests include complex polypectomy, ERCP, and Endoscopic Ultrasound. He is the Endoscopy Quality Clinical Lead at NYGH.

Kenneth J. Craddock MD, FRCPC, FACP, FCCMG

Dr. Craddock obtained his Medical Degree in his home province of Alberta prior to moving to Toronto for Anatomic Pathology residency in 2004. During his residency and early career, he was fortunate to have the opportunity to train in the Canadian College of Medical Genetics (CCMG) Fellowships in Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics in Toronto. After Directing of the University Health Network Cancer Cytogenetics Laboratory between 2010 and 2014, Dr. Craddock worked in a broad surgical pathology practice at Southlake Regional Health Centre / Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, for 5 years, prior to moving to Sunnybrook to practice a combination of Surgical Pathology and Molecular Pathology, in 2020. Dr. Craddock is currently working hard with colleagues at Sunnybrook and with the Laboratory Genetics Community in Ontario to provide a full complement of adult cancer biomarker testing in Toronto.

Michela Febbraro MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Michela Febbraro is a medical oncologist at the Algoma District Cancer Program (ADCP) in Sault Ste. Marie and Assistant Professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. She is the clinical trials lead for the breast cancer and lung cancer portfolios at the ADCP. Provincially, she is a member of the Ontario Health(OH)/Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) Lung Drug Advisory Committee and OH/CCO Disease Site Group. Nationally, she is the co-lead for the Canadian Association of Medical Oncology (CAMO) Mentorship Program. Dr. Febbraro received her medical and internal medicine degrees through NOSM University before earning her medical oncology degree at McMaster University. She completed her Lung Cancer Fellowship, and Clinician Investigator Program certifications through the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton, Ontario. She received her Master of Science in Health Research Methods at McMaster University. Dr. Febbraro’s research interests are in access to care and equity to care along the cancer continuum.

Karineh Kazazian

Dr. Karineh Kazazian is a Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncologist at the University Health Network and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. She completed her Residency in General Surgery at the University of Toronto. She also completed Complex Surgical Oncology and Advanced MIS/robotic Colorectal Oncology fellowships at the University of Toronto and University Health Network. She holds a PhD in cancer biology from the Institute of Medical Sciences. Her translational research lab focuses on understanding mechanisms of gastric and colorectal tumour progression and treatment resistance.

Christopher Lim, MD, FRCPC is an Assistant Professor at University of Toronto, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Cross-Appointed Scientist, Sunnybrook Research Institute. He is the Director of Abdominal and Pelvic MR, the Co-Lead of Prostate Imaging and Prostate Intervention and Biopsy Programs at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. His research interests are focused on genitourinary imaging and intervention, with an emphasis on quantitative imaging and Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence techniques, and hepatocellular carcinoma imaging research. "Dr. Michael Lock is a professor at Western University. He has had radiation oncology training at the Princess Margaret Hospital, University of Toronto, McMaster University, and University of Wisconsin. He has held a variety of positions including the Chief of the Division of Radiation Oncology, Associate Scientist with the Lawson Health Research Institute, the Medical Director of the London Regional Cancer Program, Chair of the Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Team, Chair of the Genitourinary Multidisciplinary Team, Chair of the Radiation Oncology Provincial Advisory Committee, and Southwest Regional Radiation Oncology Lead. He has undertaken specialized training with the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. He has received multiple awards including the Human Touch Award and London Hospitals Administrative MAC Award.
Dr. Lock specializes primarily in patients with hepatobiliary, prostate and breast cancer. He has a specialized interest and fellowship training in the use and development of radiobiological-guidance, image-guidance, and arc-based therapy. He works on global projects for organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the World Health Organization (WHO). This includes medical outreach programs, educational development, and program accreditations in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean."

William Raskin is a medical oncologist at the William Osler Health System and site lead for the breast and neuroendocrine tumor site groups. He is the current lead of the education program and former division head.He completed his undergraduate medical training at Mcmaster University, followed by Internal Medicine at Queen’s University and Medical Oncology at University of Toronto. He then worked as an associate medical oncologist at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto prior to working at William Osler. He clinical research includes multiple therapeutic clinical trials with interests in biomarker research as well as quality improvement and care delivery.

Dr. Leyo Ruo is an Associate Professor of Surgery at McMaster University’s Faculty of Health Sciences. She earned her MD from the University of Alberta, followed by postgraduate training in General Surgery at the University of Saskatchewan, Surgical Oncology. She received Clinical Research fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and an ERCP Fellowship at McMaster.
With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Ruo specializes in surgical oncology and hepato-pancreato biliary surgery. Dr. Ruo is actively engaged in clinical practice, teaching, advocacy, and research. She collaborates with both academic institutions and the private sector to advance research initiatives. Her research program combines personal projects in HPB clinical practice with participation in large, multicenter randomized clinical trials at national and international levels. Her work focuses on translational research aimed at improving surgical outcomes and developing innovative treatment strategies for complex HPB cancers.
Dr. Ruo is widely recognized for her leadership in collaborative research and frequently serves as a Local Principal Investigator on studies across Canada, Europe, and the United States. She has authored more than 100 peer reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters and has presented her work globally.

Catherine J. Streutker MD, MSc, FRCPC

Catherine Streutker completed medical school followed by her Anatomic Pathology Residency program at the University of Toronto. After this, she completed a fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology at McMaster University. In 2001, she joined St Michael’s Hospital and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto as a gastrointestinal pathologist. Her research interests are primarily mucosal immunology, Barrett’s esophagus and tumours of the upper gastrointestinal tract. She is presently the Chief of Laboratory Medicine at Unity Health Toronto.
